Falcon 2 will be launched into space on Tuesday, July 22, 2020, to carry NASA’s Falcon 9 rocket and the United States’ first privately developed, long-duration, low-Earth orbit vehicle.
The Falcon 9, or Falcon Heavy, will deliver NASA’s Advanced Exploration Systems payload into low-earth orbit, which will provide valuable scientific and commercial data.
The Falcon Heavy will also carry NASA payloads to the International Space Station.
The payload will include the NASA’s Deep Space Climate Observatory and the James Webb Space Telescope, which are among the world’s most powerful instruments.
Falcon Heavy is an upgraded version of the Falcon 9 first used to launch the Orion spacecraft in 2009.
The Orion spacecraft is the first spacecraft to be launched by the United Launch Alliance, a joint venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin, the former of which owns and operates the Falcon Heavy rocket.
The Orion spacecraft carries about 2,600 pounds (1,550 kilograms) of cargo to and from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Paris for NASA.
The payloads are used to gather data for the International Geophysical Year 2020-21, which is being held this year in 2020.
The program aims to send Earth-observing satellites to observe our planet from the highest altitudes and lowest densities in the solar system.
The International Space Exploration Agency (ISS) has launched two Orion spacecraft, which launched in late 2019 and early 2020.
One was a test flight to test a new spacecraft design that has been tested and validated on the Orion 1 spacecraft.
The second flight was an attempt to test the first stage of the Orion 2 rocket.
