The Horizon league is a college basketball league that has been in existence since the spring of 2016, and is the culmination of what was supposed to be the NBA’s “new breed of college basketball,” as ESPN.com put it.
The Horizon League began in May, when the league was announced in February 2016 and included all but four of the league’s 20 teams, including Butler.
As of Wednesday, the league had an average attendance of 18,746, and the league has had a record of 5-0 in the first five seasons.
The league has two full-time coaches: former NBA player, Chris Mullin, and former NBA head coach, Mike Budenholzer, who has been named as the league general manager.
They’ve both had their own successful coaching careers, and Budenheimer has been a major contributor to the league.
Players have also had their careers affected by the league, with players like Kevin Durant, Tyus Jones, and Derrick Rose going on to have successful careers in the league (and with the league in general).
For all the talk of how great the NBA is, there has also been plenty of criticism for the league and Budens coaching career.
He was fired as head coach of the Denver Nuggets after a disappointing season in 2016-17, but he’s been a key part of the franchise for the last decade, leading the Nuggets to two NBA championships in 2017 and 2018.
In 2019, he was named the league coach of its new television partner, ESPN.
The NBA has also seen a few high-profile coaches leave, including former coach Brett Brown, who was fired in October.
But Budenholm and Buds wife, Liza, remain in the business, and they’re looking to build their own league in their backyard.
